The Ranch Road Show March 17th in Independence, TX
Sponsored by Washington County Arts Council
The Ranch Road Show is a touring production about life on the Ranch Road where musicians, writers, humorists, storytellers, poets, and other artists meet at the rural crossroads. This multi-media show takes its audience on a journey by means of sketch comedy, musical performance, and special guests. The Ranch Road Show includes highlights of local talent and points of interest of the area in which the show is hosted. Saddle up and hang on for a trip down the Ranch Road.
The next production will take place in Independence, TX and feature guitarist luminary Stephen Bennett and the well-known designer, illustrator, and mural artist Dayton Wodrich. Entertainment will also include the celebrated documentary "Down The Road", the Brenham Drama Club, that energetic swing band Back At The Ranch, and much more in this production of The Ranch Road Show. Showtime is 7:30-9:30pm on March 17th, 2006 at the historical Independence Baptist Church located at the intersection of Highways 50 and 390 in Independence, Texas. Admission is $10 and tickets can be purchased at the door. For more information visit www.backattheranch.biz.
Stephen Bennett, a winner of the National Flatpicking Championship in Winfield, Kansas (The Walnut Valley Festival), has become known as a versatile and original guitarist who consistently garners critical praise and audience enthusiasm for his recordings and live performances. Stephen has performed throughout the United States and in Europe and appeared on A Prairie Home Companion. As one of the most original and prolific composers and arrangers for the guitar on the current scene, Stephen Bennett’s performance is an enthralling experience not soon forgotten.
Back At The Ranch delivers a swinging blend of Western Swing and Cowboy tunes. This band is not the normal 10 songs and an encore; they focus on old-time entertainment. The effortless ease with which the combo performs their classic selections will, as Red Steagall says, “…knock your hat in the creek!” Their upbeat stage presence and hilarious antics blend seamlessly together with pure harmonies and professional musicianship for a top-notch performance.
Dayton Wodrich, whose slogan is “Preserving history through art,” has been painting historical murals all over the United States for 30 years. Dayton and his wife and assistant, Sandra travel across the United States preserving local history with beautiful wall murals.
Audiences are saying:
“Professional music of the highest quality!”
“We loved the stories, comedy and terrific musicianship, an all-around great show!”
“If you enjoy Texas Country Reporter and Prairie Home Companion you’re going to love this!”
